KENNETH CHAR, currently the Executive Vice-president of the East-West Foundation and Counselor to the President of the East-West Center. Past president of Aloha Airlines and of the Hawaii Visitors Bureau, Char spent 1984-85 as a visiting scholar at the Fairbank Center for Asian Studies at Harvard University, and last year in China as a professor at the Beijing Second Foreign Language Institute, where he was also an advisor to China’s tourist industry.
