Hong Kong: A Post-handover Update

The China Seminar will have periodic updates of Hong Kong after the handover and welcomes Dr. Alison W. Conner, who spoke to the China Seminar on previous occasions, to speak on the subject for its February meeting. Prior to joining the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law in January 1995, Alison Conner spent eight and a half years as a member of the law faculty of the University of Hong Kong, to which she returns in summers to teach in various law programs of U.S. universities there.

Dr. Conner has spent twelve years in Asia teaching and doing research, with postings at the National University of Singapore and Nanjing University in China. She received her Ph.D. from Cornell University in East Asian history (1979) and her J.D. from Harvard Law School (1973). A keen and informed observer of current events, Dr. Conner brings broad interests in history, culture and the arts to her law studies.
