Macau's Communities: Past, Present and Future [joint with the Pacific and Asian Affairs Council]

Mr. Ngai, a linguist and communications specialist, is one of the leading experts on China-Macau relations. After receiving his early education in Indonesia, he studied in Beijing at the People’s University. In 1978 he became a Full Professor in the Academy of Foreign Relations, Beijing, focusing primarily on Western Europe. He has interpreted for leaders such as Mao Zedong and Deng Xiao Ping. In addition, Mr. Ngai worked for Radio Macau and helped start Macau TV. Also, Mr. Ngai was a technical advisor for the Governor’s Office of the Macau Institute of Culture. Recently, he served as Senior Advisor for the Macau Cultural Center project. Since 1998, he has been Chief Executive and a key board member for the Macau Sino-Latin Foundation. Mr. Ngai will share his observations on Macau’s upcoming handover to China this December.
