China Through the Eyes of Hawaii’s Youth
This summer, thanks to the generous funding of the Freeman Foundation, the Pacific and Asian Affairs Council (PAAC) Travel Program led a study tour of 20 Hawaii public high school students through the People’s Republic of China from June 19 to July 7, 2004. Visiting Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Xi’an, Yangshuo and Guangzhou before returning from Hong Kong, the student group was hosted by a wide range of educational, diplomatic and business entities active in China today. Highlights of this unique program will be presented by Lisa Maruyama, PAAC Executive Director, Jason Jones, PAAC High School Program Director, and a panel of three student participants.
