Traditional Chinese Medicine: Theory and Practice

With a history of over 2,000 years, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a unique system of diagnosis and cure. Since ancient times, TCM has been widely used in China by everyone, from commoners to high officials. The TCM approach is fundamentally different from that of Western medicine and has been gaining popularity in the U.S. Dr. Kapothanasis will be speaking about TCM theory, acupuncture, herbal medicine, cupping, ear seeds and Chinese nutrition. She will do some demonstrations as well. Dr. Christina Kapothanasis, L.Ac., Dipl.O.M. graduated from Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a 5-year program conducted completely in Mandarin Chinese. She interned with the prominent Dr. Li Zheng Yu for 2 years in Taipei, Taiwan. She and her husband, Dr. Nathan Tseng, L.Ac., Dipl.O.M have been in private practice in Honolulu since 2009. At their clinic, Kai Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic, they primarily treat internal medicine conditions, with Dr. Kapothanasis’ emphasis on OBGYN, and Dr. Tseng’s emphasis on pain syndromes.
