Taiwan: Elections and Cross-straits Relations with the Mainland

Dr. Godwin Chu received his PhD in communication research from Stanford University in 1964. Before joining the East-West Center in 1973 as a Senior Fellow, he taught at Stanford University, University of Victoria in Canada, and Southern Illinois University, where he was Professor and Research Director in the School of Journalism. He is currently Emeritus Senior Fellow at the East-West Center. Among his many publications are: Radical Change through Communication in Mao’s China, Moving a Mountain: Cultural Change in China, China’s New Social Fabric, Cultural Change in Rural Taiwan, Rural Chinese Family in Transition, and most recently, The Great Wall in Ruins: Communication and Cultural Change in China.
