The China Seminar joins Hawaii at large in welcoming Brenda Lei Foster back to its shores. President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai from 2005 to 2013, Brenda presided over the signal growth of that body to 4,000 members, oversaw all of the Chamber’s initiatives, designed and developed new and innovative programs and services, and represented American business interests not only in China but throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

Prior to assuming this position in January 1995, she served as Director of the State of Hawaii’s Office of International Relations (1992-94), Executive Director of Hawaii’s World Affairs Council, and the Pacific and Asian Affairs Council (1977-92). A nationally and internationally known expert in Asian affairs with a B.
