Is There an Environmental Movement in China? Beware of the River of Anger
Guobin Yang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology, University of Hawaii at Manoa, and a Research Scholar in the Department of Asian and Middle Eastern Cultures, Barnard College, Columbia University. He is the author of Dragon-Carving and the Literary Mind (Beijing: Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, 2003), an annotated English translation of the 6th-century classic of literary criticism Wenxin Diaolong. His current research focuses on the development of non-governmental organizations in China, the impact of the internet on Chinese civil society, China’s environmental movement, and collective memories of the “Cultural Revolution.
